A person needs new experiences. They jar something deep inside, allowing him to grow. Without change, something inside us sleeps, and seldom awakens. The sleeper must awaken. Frank Herbert

On&On

A contemporary, question-raising exposition called On&On can be found at la Casa Encendida. Walking in unexpectedly, I was awed by the first piece of hanging strawberries, fruitflies, and a taxodermy crow swooping down. A moment frozen in time of the black predator among a field of strawberries, fighting for a delicious feast of fruit and flies.
The next piece is a web of black yarn covering the walls and covering a burnt piano and burnt chairs. Slightly creepy, yet inviting. We wanted to just crawl through the entangled web. Our question: Is the web organized in a specific design or simply inspired at the moment of creation?
Growing technology. Pink mold-like fungus grows all over laptops, cell phones, iPods, and office tools like notepads, coffee and water. It's hot pink color and the crystal-like structure forms strange growths over all the technology. Even in the stale coffee, a greenish mold that one could find in their own home started to appear. Placed in a black room with low lighting gave me the sensation that we had been transplanted in the depths of deep seas with neon corals or algaes.
My favorite piece was a room filled with little birds, small Mandarin diamond birds with bright orange beaks. They fluttered around the room landing freely on guitars, symbols, and other musical instruments creating a musical piece of their own. Random sounds begun by the hopping, pecking, and movement of the little creatures.
